A slow and considered experience focusing on guided walking safaris brings the semiarid ecosystem to life. Plains Camp offers a spectacular stand-alone safari experience or a compelling add-on to one of Samara’s other lodges.

Plains Camp Stay
Plains Camp is nestled against a low hill with sweeping views of plains and dolerite-capped mountains.
The camp blends into its natural surroundings whilst providing a front row view to this piece of paradise and its plentiful wildlife. Zebra, black wildebeest, springbok and gemsbok meander these plains, alongside giraffe, ostrich and cheetah — the tableau only further enhanced by the unmistakable call of the ground-dwelling korhaan bird.
The setting at Samara is spectacular, the mountain landscape and vast plains are a feast for the eyes. My Karoo Suite was very spacious, comfortable and tastefully furnished.
